Bowie at the Forum
Bowie at the Forum in London almost did me in. He advertised in the Evening Standard... two ticket limit, twenty quid each. Amazing... had never had a chance to see my all-time favorite, and the favorite of so many British musicians. I dreamed about what he might play, what he might open with. And, to my deep shock, he opened with Life on Mars. The tears began to flow and didn't stop til well into the third song. Heaven.
Anticipation
I am going to see Muse with the lovely Lisa in less than two weeks. I can't quite describe the excitement I'm feeling as I prepare for the show and imagine the visual and aural explosion that I hear their shows are. Am also, unbelievably, going to see The National, just next week. It's a shocking two gigs in one week! That hasn't happened since our London days... feeling so lucky I could pinch myself.
For the love of volume
This is a site dedicated to the love of music shared by all human beings. It has a distinct alternative music slant, but we shall endeavor to remain open-minded to all music genres. Only requirement: that the music and musicians involved exhibit passion, a bit of the unique, and, most importantly, drama.
I got hooked on music and the incredible relationship between performer and audience in 1980, when I bought Prince's 1999. Since then, music has been a major part of my existence. The strength of my love has ebbed and flowed throughout the years... gaining extreme intensity during high school and college, somewhat quietly retreating to the wings during the early baby years, but recently regaining its position of being central to my days. Is it impending middle age? Or is it being inspired by some great bands that I hadn't noticed until now. Don't know, really don't care. Just want to write about this love, and share it with others who feel the love. For those of you who live to gig and club, or those who just listen in a darkened room with the headphones on, letting the sounds fill the mind scape, or pound through your torso, I hope you enjoy and can find something to relate to.
